CODAC Behavioral Healthcare wants to be clear that we stand with those who are crying out for racial justice and against the systemic racism and oppression that continues to plague our country. Since the death of George Floyd, protesters have made their voices heard in every state and every major American city, including right here in Providence, where more than 10,000 people came out to peacefully protest police brutality and demand racial justice earlier this summer. We must listen to their voices as we promise to never again remain silent.
There are moments in history when it is imperative to take action in favor of what is right and justice when inaction is no longer acceptable. We are living in such times now. The murders of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and countless others before them are painful reminders that our country has failed to address systemic racism, which has persisted throughout our history as a nation. Through the Jim Crow era and segregation, right up to the present, we continue to see racial bias and disparities in housing, education, wealth, criminal justice, and so many other areas.
At CODAC, we provide an inclusive environment for those we serve and for our employees. We are firmly committed to ensuring that we provide services to all in need regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, and basis of disability, or any other federal, state, or local protected class. In addition, we are an Equal Opportunity Employer and desire to have staff reflective of our population.
CODAC is committed to the ongoing difficult discussions that we believe is the only road to change. ~ Linda Hurley
“People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr.
