CODAC believes that the key to successful long-term recovery is to provide treatment for the whole person, not only the substance use disorder symptoms and behaviors. All CODAC patients receive a medical exam at intake and then yearly. The medical exam includes a history and physical by one of CODAC’s medical providers, testing for Hepatitis C, HIV, STIs and tuberculosis. If necessary CODAC will assist you in connecting with any other medical services you might need.
Pre- and post-partum women in opioid treatment have their own set of medical needs. Pregnancy and the year following delivery are times when both mother and child are especially vulnerable. CODAC’s medical and counseling staffs trained to offer specialized education and support. CODAC will collaborate directly with obstetricians to optimize opportunities for effective care.
Rapid testing for Hepatitis C creates an opportunity for immediate counseling and referral to treatment and is demonstrated to have more favorable outcomes for patient follow-up. Based on results, CODAC offers hepatitis C treatment and regularly communicates with patients’ primary care or specialty providers to coordinate care. Since the initiation of this service, 90% of CODAC patients treated for Hepatitis C have been cured.
