Answering the Call During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Throughout this national health crisis, CODAC has been dispatched within the community to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens receive the support and treatment they need.
Working closely with local leaders, CODAC has successfully ramped up our outreach efforts all while maintaining the strictest health and safety standards.
Highlighted below are a few examples of how CODAC has adjusted operations during COVID-19 to maintain proper levels of care:
- Instituted an immediate transition to telehealth to assist seniors, homeless, veterans and those individuals who suffer from an opioid use disorder and have tested positive for COVID-19.
- Under the guidance of SAMHSA and CDC, all eight sites throughout the state remain open. Staff has continued to treat patients who have a suppressed immune system and are sheltering at home; elderly patients who require support from a primary or behavioral health therapist; and those who have an opioid/substance abuse addiction and require Medication Assisted Treatment.
- In partnership with the RI State Police, CODAC is serving members of the homeless population who have an opioid use disorder and are COVID-19 positive. We have a dedicated location at the Wyndham Hotel in Warwick to provide critical health care services in a safe, secure environment.
- Our Medical Mobile Unit is traveling statewide to provide critical services to patients in designated ‘hotspot’ zones.
- We have partnered with Cumberland EMS, the only ALL paramedic unit in the state, to ensure enhanced patient care (need more info)
As the largest non-profit, outpatient provider of opioid treatment in Rhode Island, it is imperative that CODAC retains the ability to respond to challenges at a moment’s notice. Throughout this pandemic, our team of compassionate clinicians continues to deliver the highest standard of care for patients in recovery.
This quality level of service would not be possible without the support of our local leaders and friends like you who continue to support our organization. We thank you and hope you will continue to help those in our community that needs it most.
