In light of the recent Coronavirus cases in Rhode Island, we want to assure you that CODAC is here to care for you. We feel it is important to inform you of the precautions we take to keep the disease from spreading in the clinics.  Our staff makes every effort to ensure a safe environment for our patients. In addition to our usual cleaning processes throughout the day, we have made the following adjustments in light of the Coronavirus outbreak. Our cleaning contractors use hospital-grade disinfectants and we have increased scheduled professional cleanings. CODAC staff will now also be wiping down high exposure areas frequently during the day.  Our primary goal is to keep Coronavirus out of the office.

CODAC Leadership has been in continuous contact with the State and Federal agencies that regulate and license our treatment centers, to discuss the best course of action to ensure the health and safety of the entire CODAC community during this public health crisis.

All patients will be screened for symptoms prior to dosing. In order to decrease potential exposure in the clinics, all patients with take-home status will be considered for temporary increases in take-home dose status as permitted under federal law, and medically vulnerable patients will be assessed to receive medical take-homes.

CODAC has taken steps to secure the additional supplies, including medications, that may be necessary throughout the course of this crisis, assuring that everyone will have access to the medications they receive from CODAC.

Please follow the following precautions:  Frequent handwashing with soap and warm water, coughing and sneezing into your elbow or tissue, avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes. Enforce social distancing, this means keeping 6 feet of space between you and others in public settings.  And if you are feeling sick stay at home and contact your primary medical care provider.

We will continue to inform patients, families, and our communities through our website, Facebook, and postings in the clinic.  Your counselor and program site director are always available to you to discuss your concerns.

Along with our concern for your physical health, we are also concerned about your recovery.  We know that this is a stressful time for everyone and being isolated from others may only add to coping challenges.  Please take note of the following resources:

In the meantime, here are some HELPFUL and PRACTICAL WAYS TO COPE AND RELAX:

  • Relax your body often by doing things that work for you—take deep breaths, stretch, meditate pray, or engage in activities you enjoy.
  • Pace yourself between stressful activities and do something fun after a hard task.
  • Talk about your experiences and feelings to loved ones and friends, if you find it helpful.
  • Maintain a sense of hope and positive thinking; consider keeping a journal where you write down things you are grateful for or that are going well.

Stay safe and stay connected!
